I used "Cool Wool" from Lana Grossa throughout the book. It's really lovely yarn, and shows off the stitch definition so well!

Section 1 is: Knit 1 row. Work Section 1 once, Section 2 4 times, then Section 3 once. At this point you have worked all the way across the throw and should have the same number of rows in each sections.
This is Section 1: K20, W/T, knit to end, turn.
K15, W/T; knit to end, turn.
K10, W/T; knit to end, turn.
K5, W/T; knit to end, turn.
K20.
I'm at Row 5 in this section. How do I get down to row 1 for Section 2?

No-it's just one ball of yarn at a time, but the yarn is a novelty yarn that has varying textures. It's a small throw, and I don't remember what the gauge is, but the finished dimensions should be on the pattern. If you want to make it larger, just add stitches in multiples of 20, and work in the pattern as described. You'll want to add length, as well, and you'll need more yarn.

I have your pattern Mystify Throw using short rows. Do you use a separate ball of yarn for each section? Is this made in panels of 5 sections because 100 stitches seem not wide enough for a throw.

Hi Edie,

thank you so much for your comment on the start of my "Beyond the Square" Challenge 2012! Meanwhile several other girls have joined the Challenge, and I had lots of replies from people who said they love your book. I've started a gallery on my blog for all participants to link up their motifs throughout the year, just in case you'd like to check out what we're doing to your motifs! :)

Thanks again for your kind words and your great book,

Greetings from Germany,
Barbara

Hi Kathy-
You certainly may refer people to YouTube, but keep a few things in mind:
(1) not everyone will have access to YouTube at the moment they are needing the technique, so if it is something out of the ordinary, you'll want to give the information right in the pattern.
(2) not everyone learns best from videos. Do you want to offer additional resources for those who prefer written instructions? It's a slippery slope, I know!
(3) unless it's your YouTube video, it might taken down or moved at any time without notice. Do you mind if the video is not under your control? (If it's your video, of course, that's not a problem.)

Good luck!
Edie

Hi Edie,
Is it appropriate to note in a knitting pattern a reference to You Tube for technique questions? As discussed in your "How to Say It" class, knitters aren't always sure where they fit on the skill level scale and expect the instructions to fill in the blanks for them.
Thanks,
Kathy
