Errata

As they say “We’re all human, and we all make mistakes.” I’m not sure why human=mistakes. Don’t dogs ever make mistakes? You’d think so. Anyway, despite careful pattern-writing on my part and hopefully careful editing on the part of others, mistakes do make it into patterns. The following corrections are for the mistakes I know about. If you find one not listed here, please email me and let me know about it, so I can do everything I can to fix the problem! You can find errata for books published by Storey Publishing by searching here.

Books published by Annie’s Attic, American School of Needlework, and House of White Birches have errata here or here.

Around the Corner Crochet Borders

Border #59, Page 130

Round 1: Ch 5 (counts as dc and ch-2), *[skip 2 sts, dc in next 3 sts, ch 2, skip 2 sts, dc in next st, ch 2] to 1 st before corner st . . .

Page 11, Repeating Sections of Stitches

The yellow shaded box is in the wrong place. It should be the same as shown on p. 215, Border #104.

Beyond the Square Crochet Motifs

This isn’t exactly an errata, but an eagle-eyed reader noticed that there is a hexagonal motif on the cover that isn’t in the instructions. I’ve dubbed it my “Mystery Motif”. Here are the instructions:

Mystery Motif

Begin with sliding loop.

Rnd 1: With color A, ch 1, 6 sc in ring, join with slip stitch to first sc—6 sc. Rnd 2: Ch 4 (counts as tr), tr in same st, ch 3, *2 tr in next sc, ch 3; repeat from * four more times, join with slip stitch to top of ch-4. Rnd 3: Ch 1, *sc in next 2 tr, 5 sc in ch-3 space; repeat from * five more times, join with slip stitch to first sc. Fasten off. Rnd 4: With Color B, (standing sc, ch 1, sc) in center sc of any 5-sc group, ch 2, (FPtr around next tr from Rnd 2) two times, ch 2**, (sc, ch 1, sc) in center sc of next 5-sc group; repeat from * around, ending last repeat at **, join with slip stitch to first sc. Rnd 5: Ch 1, *(sc, ch 1, sc) in next ch-1 space, 2 sc in ch-2 space, sc in next 2 tr, 2 sc in next ch-2 space; repeat from * around, join with slip stitch to ch-1. Fasten off. Rnd 6: With Color A, (standing sc, ch 1, sc) in any ch-1 space, *ch 3, (FPtr around next tr from Rnd 4) two times, ch 3**, (sc, ch 1, sc) in next ch-1 corner; repeat from * around, ending last repeat at **, join with slip stitch to first sc. Rnd 7: Ch 1, *(sc, ch 1, sc) in next ch-1 space, 3 sc in ch-3 space, sc in next 2 tr, 3 sc in next ch-3 space; repeat from * around, join with slip st to first sc. Fasten off.

p. 84, Motif #46
There is a misplaced comma in Rnd 4. It should say:

“…slip st to first ch of first picot, tr, 2 dc] in next ch-5 sp, dc in next dc…”

The Crochet Answer Book

On. p. 77, in the first diagram for single crochet, the arrow is not correct.

In the first printing, on p. 88, the captions were switched on the illustrations. This was heart-breaking to me, because in my opinion it is the most important illustration in the whole book, and it was correct in EVERY SINGLE proof I saw. It got switched at the printer. ARGH! (Second and subsequent printings have been corrected, so your p. 88 may be OK.)

The corrected pages for both errors are here.

Knit & Crochet Ponchos, Wraps, Capes & Shrugs

On p. 24, Coral Capelet, the foundation chain should be “Ch 87.”

On p. 59, Golden Mesh Wrap, Row 4 should read as follows:

Row 4: Ch 5 to turn, ch 6, skip 5 dc, sc in next dc, *ch 6, make Trefoil Stitch, ch 6, skip 9 dc, sc in next dc; repeat from * 4 times, ending last repeat sc in top of turning chain, turn.

On p. 103, Aran Poncho, Rows 1-7 of the collar are incorrect. The correct text is as follows:

Row 1: K2, * T2L, P1, K1, P1, T2R, K1; repeat from * to last stitch, K1 .
Row 2: P1, *P1, K1 ; repeat from * to last 2 stitches, end P2.
Row 3: K2, * P1, T2L, K1, T2R, P1, K1; repeat from * to last stitch, K1 .
Row 4: P1, * P2, K1, P3, K1, P1 ; repeat from * to last 2 stitches, end P2.
Row 5: K2, * T2L, P1, K1, P1, T2R, K1; repeat from * to last stitch, K1 .
Row 6: P1, * P1, K1 ; repeat from * to last 2 stitches, end P2.
Row 7: K2, * P1, T2L, K1, T2R, P1, K1; repeat from * to last stitch, K1 .

Errata — 3 Comments

  1. While I am working on Motif#112, of “Beyond the Square Crochet Motifs “the last corner is getting slightly awkward. Is it supposed to end with a half double crochet? The pattern calls for 3 chain and join on top of beginning ch 3. Really appreciate you are checking

    • Ending with a ch-3 and join is correct, since you are not going on to add another round and therefore don’t need your hook to end up in the corner of the space. If you think the ch-3 doesn’t look right, try ch 2 and join and see if you like it better. That corner should look just like all the other corners on the round.
