(Mystery) Christmas Stocking Crochet Along

This post may contain affiliate links, which help support my day job but don’t cost you anything extra.

Join me here on the blog beginning Friday, November 18, for a free Christmas Stocking Crochet Along (CAL).

We’ll be using your choice of worsted weight yarn to create a basic Christmas stocking. From there you can use your imagination (and some inspirational photos) to create one-of-a-kind stockings for everyone in your family.

What will the stocking look like?

Well, it’s a mystery CAL, so I can’t show you! I can give you some hints, however. The graphic above is a close-up of the stocking itself. You’ll be embellishing it to suit your style. You can get an idea of my “holiday” aesthetic from the images from Christmas Crochet for Hearth, Home & Tree shown here.

What if I’m not a confident crocheter?

If you are not an experienced crocheter, you can still do this! Just make sure you’ve mastered single crochet and I’ll walk you through all the other bits, including recognizing the ends of rounds, turning a heel, and shaping a toe.

How does the CAL work?

Come back here on for the written pattern and video. The pattern will be on the blog and the video will be on YouTube. Links and embedded video will be included as the pattern is released.

Tuesday, November 22: Pattern and Video
Tuesday, November 29: Pattern, Video, and Inspirational Photos

We’ll connect here on the blog. You can leave comments and ask questions, and I’ll check in frequently to help you through any challenges.

Everything will be remain available after the CAL finishes, so don’t worry if you join a little late, or don’t keep up with me.

Is it too late to get started?

Absolutely not! The Crochet Along will take only two weeks, so there is plenty of time to make a stocking and have it ready before Christmas. Of course, you can take as much time as you need to finalize your stocking.

This is not a last-minute project! You do have time to make one or more stockings!

lambs-pride-3-skeinsWhat materials will I need?

The materials I’m using are listed below, but feel free to use whatever yarn(s) you have on hand. Note: Buying the supplies from the links below will give me a small percent back of the purchase price, at no additional cost to you.

Let’s prepare for the holidays together!

The entire crochet along is complete. You can see all the parts here:

  1. I’m looking forward to this project. I did your afghan a few years ago, all the squares were cables. Loved it. Thank you for offering this project for free. Very generous of you.

  2. Yes, aran yarn will work. You may have to play with your hook size a bit, but I’ll discuss gauge on Friday.

  3. You should be able to get the pattern, and the video link should be working now. If it’s not, just let me know!
