The Yarn

Craft Yarn Council icon-3 Light Weight Yarn
Unity Beyond Yarn from FibraNatura

For the sample, I used FibraNatura Unity Beyond, a lightweight thick-and-thin yarn. It gives a kind of rustic look. The yarn is soft but sturdy and is super comfy on your head. Unity Beyond is 36% wool, 28% cotton, 19% linen, and 18% bamboo and comes in 3.5 oz [100 g], 262 yds [240 m] balls.

For a more sophisticated look, choose a smooth mercerized cotton yarn in a bright color.

Worked from the top down, the hat begins with gradual increases to the full circumference. Then work in the round without increasing to the brim. Start the brim with an increase round, then work even with just a few more increases to the length you choose. A longer brim may require an extra ball of yarn.

This pattern uses American crochet terminology.
