Free Crochet Pattern: Corded Single Crochet Washcloth

Here’s a soft crocheted washcloth with a solid fabric so your fingers don’t poke through as you scrub! It features a simple “single crochet in the row below” technique that is easy for new crocheters. And the fabric is 100% reversible. A simple crocheted saw tooth edging finishes off the square. The stitch pattern is described below, including a video tutorial. There’s a link to get the free Corded Single Crochet Washcloth pattern, which includes both the stitch pattern, charts, video and written instructions.

The Corded Single Crochet stitch pattern is a really nothing but single crochet, with a trick. One of the rows is worked “in the row below”, creating a thicker, cord-like row. Because the stitch pattern is a three-row repeat, the fabric itself is truly reversible. This makes it just right for a washcloth!

In this washcloth, I used KnitPicks/WeCrochet Dishie worsted weight (#4) yarn in color Dewdrop. Dishie is 100% cotton, the perfect fiber for a washcloth. It comes in 100 gram balls of 190 yards [174 meters] each.

I used size I-9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook. This stitch pattern works great in any color, including variegated, so you have lots of options!
