The Rice Stitch pattern is composed of alternating front post and back post crochet stitches. It’s so easy to memorize that you won’t have to keep looking at the pattern. That leaves your mind able to concentrate on something else (audiobook, TV) while you crochet.

In this sample I used KnitPicks/WeCrochet Dishie worsted weight (#4) yarn in color Creme Brulee. Dishie is 100% cotton, the perfect fiber for a washcloth. It comes in 100 gram balls of 190 yards [174 meters] each.

I used size I-9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook. This stitch pattern shows up best with a solid color yarn, but you can certainly use a variegated colorway if that’s what you love.
